Hessonite Garnet is one of the less-well known members of the garnet family. You probably know the red forms of garnet (almandine and pyrope), or the pinkish purple form (rhodolite). Hessonite garnet is typically orange or sometimes brown. Like all garnet, it is rich in color and well suited to jewelry or collection.
This stone was originally a commercially cut stone, that I recut *just* a little bit to improve polish and symmetry and fortunately lost very little carat weight. It is a somewhat hazy looking stone, which is apparent in the photos, but is not very included. It has nice rich color, and looks a bit like a smoldering ember. It weighs in at 3.96 carats and measures 10 x 8 x 5mm deep.
All my stones are hand-cut by me, and the stone you are buying is always the stone pictured. Please see my shop policies for more information, or feel free to contact me with your questions and feedback.
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day!
