Was anyone else fascinated with their brightly colored, swirl-filled marbles as a kid? When I first started faceting, I used to cut glass for practice. I haven't cut glass in years, but a while back I saw another cutter do a series of stones with faceted marbles and I thought I'd try this one I had lying around. It came out very pretty. The X shape of the reddish orange swirl is oriented vertically so as you move the stone around you see intermittent flashes of white light with a kaleidoscopic play of reflections of the inner orange glass swirl. A fun novelty for anyone looking for something unique.
The stone measures 10.3mm across and is 7mm deep. It weighs 3.25ct. The stone is glass so it will be a bit more fragile and soft than quartz. It can definitely be worn in jewelry, but extra care is recommended.
