Rose quartz makes a truly lovely gemstone. It is the pink form for quartz, and almost always has a cloudy, chatoyant appearance because of the natural inclusions it contains. Rose quartz also often displays a 6-ray star when cut. In truly exceptional pieces it can be seen very strongly, but in most it is faint. Rose Quartz has a hardness of 7.5 and is very suitable for jewelry or collection.
I'd been wanting to cut a pyramidal cab for a while now, and this piece of rough jumped up to volunteer. It is completely natural. To my knowledge it has not been even heat treated for color, and I believe it was mined by hand in Georgia. The stone has several visible inclusions, but they enhance the natural effect of the stone. This gorgeous cabochon weighs 13.33ct and measures 14.5mm squared, by 8.5mm tall.
